Beauty for Ashes: When God Mends Your Broken Pieces

MEET DORAH-LEIGH LEWIS

Joy-Bringer. Educator. Minister. Visionary.

"Like the sunflower, I’ve learned to keep reaching for the light — even on the darkest days."

I’m Dorah-Leigh Lewis — a woman called to encourage, uplift, and remind others that joy is still possible. Through every season, I’ve learned the power of standing tall and facing the light — trusting that God’s purpose is greater than the pain.

As a cancer survivor, I know what it means to walk through hard places. But more importantly, I know what it means to come out still holding my joy. During that journey, God gave me the sunflower as a symbol — a reminder that no matter the rain or the storm, we were created to rise and reach for the light.

My work has always been rooted in helping others find hope and purpose — whether in the classroom, the community, or the church.

  • Bachelor of Science in Human Services
  • Dual Master of Science in Counseling and Psychology
  • Certified Professional Coach and Consultant
  • 2012 Ida S. Baker Diversity Educator of the Year

I am also the author of "Beauty for Ashes: When God Mends Your Broken Pieces" — a book that reflects my personal story of healing, resilience, and God’s ability to turn every broken place into something beautiful.

Today, through Beauty for Ashes, Inc. (501(c)(3)) and Dorah-Leigh Lewis Global, I continue to lead projects that restore, support, and equip others — especially women, survivors, and students we serve through our global scholarships and outreach initiatives.

My heart is simple: to help you rise, reclaim your joy, and know that you were created for more.

The Heart Behind Our Logo

Our logo is more than design — it is a reflection of the journey, the calling, and the promise God gave me during one of the hardest seasons of my life.

Originally created under Gateway Advocates & Messengers, the globe and silhouette represent our foundation: serving as messengers of hope, advocates for healing, and a gateway for restoration — both locally and globally.

The sunlit colors symbolize joy, healing, and the light of Christ. The globe reflects our expanding mission, while the woman’s silhouette stands as a reminder that every survivor, dreamer, and leader is called to rise, reclaim their voice, and walk in their God-given purpose.

Even as our work grows into The Restoration Collective Global, this logo remains a personal and prophetic reminder: the call is still alive, and the mission lives on.

Scripture Anchor:

"The Lord announces the word, and the women who proclaim it are a mighty throng."Psalm 68:11
